O escritor Greil Marcus acaba de lançar seu livro The History of Rock ‘n’ Roll in Ten Songs, que como diz o título, finge resumir a história do Rock em apenas dez músicas, mas como obviamente esta é uma tarefa impossível, o livro acaba sendo mais abrangente do que isto e refletindo sobre o estilo de maneira geral. O Pitchfork teve uma conversa bastante esclarecedora com o autor.
“Really it’s all about the songs. It’s about the way a song can come loose from the person who wrote it or from the people who first performed it. Then it becomes something out there in the world that is public and accessible to anybody. And anybody has a right to re-sing, rethink, or restage as they choose.”
