Ezra Koenig fala sobre quarto álbum de Vampire Weekend

O vocalista Ezra Keonig revelou novidades sobre o quarto disco da banda Vampire Weekend através do Instagram. Em um curto texto, ele diz: “Todos os dias eu recebo perguntas e comentários sobre o novo disco. Obviamente, nós temos que ter tempo para fazer as coisas certas, mas os fãs merecem algumas informações”.

Nesse comunicado, ele revela uma linha do tempo que liga o lançamento de 2013, Modern Vampires of the City, até o ano de 2017. Keonig comenta que 2014 foi um ano para a saúde mental do grupo e que o álbum começou a ser escrito já em 2015 (“longos dias na biblioteca pesquisando com alunos da faculdade”, comenta).

Em 2016, o álbum começou a ser gravado e a banda pretende terminá-lo o mais rápido possível para sair ainda neste ano (“estamos tentando finalizar logo; o que mais eu posso contar a vocês sem tocar o disco de uma vez?”, diz o músico).

Ezra ainda revelou que o nome da obra por enquanto é Mitsubishi Macchiato, título que apenas entrega o conceito, mas que dificilmente chegará às prateleiras.

Este será o primeiro registro da banda sem a presença de Rostam Batmanglij, que deixou a banda em janeiro de 2016.

every day I get comments & questions about the next Vampire Weekend album. obviously, we gotta take our time & get it right but the fans deserve some information. I know it feels like it’s been an eternity since the last one but time…is strange. this is what’s been happening: 2013- MVOTC release 2014 – still touring/promoting 2015 – mental health year (putting 3 albums in stores was taxing), worked on a vibey project you’ll hear abt soon 2016- writing LP4, long days in the library researching w/ the grad students 2017 – recording, trying to finish ASAP what else can I tell you without playing myself? hmm, it’s a lil more springtime than the last one. guitar’s not dead. there are songs (currently) called “Conversation” & “Flower Moon.” Flower Moon is hard to finish but I think it belongs on the album. working title is still Mitsubishi Macchiato cuz it is a helpful concept. I should probably stop there cuz all of that information is subject to change & I can’t tell you the really good stuff anyway ?????????????
