“I spent the second week of March at SXSW, and I spent a pretty good percentage of my SXSW at metal shows. In truth, most of the people I talked to at the festival seemed to agree that this year’s metal lineups were pretty lackluster, but even so, every day the genre offered numerous acts I felt I had to catch, and I was energized a whole lot more often than I was disappointed. Some of the best bands I saw at SXSW — in any genre — included Power Trip, Obliteration, Psalm Zero, Vaporizer, Primitive Man, Vattnet Viskar, Pilgrim, and Black Market contributor Doug Moore’s Pyrrhon”

Porque às vezes até chego a pensar que deveríamos escrever uma musica dançante, e o resto dos caras acha que não. Se não é para ser, então não vai ser. Esses caras escrevem música e eu escrevo palavras e melodias, então isso acaba dando certo como um todo. Eu me alimento da emoção deles, do que eles me dão e nós meio que crescemos organicamente. E isso é positivo, porque, se algum de nós ficar meio impaciente, tentamos dar uma relaxada e deixar as coisas virem.”

“So I started writing the songs on acoustic guitar and then I got it in my head that I wanted to write as much as I could and started separating them into categories for the projects that I was doing, which I kind of do a lot anyway because I’m either doing stuff on my own or stuff with Animal Collective. It’s not usually much of a conscious decision of “oh, I’m going to do these two different things.” I definitely had it in my head that I wanted to do a solo thing without Animal Collective, something that’s more band-focused. “
